What we do

IS-Wireless develops and delivers 4G and 5G mobile networks supporting more users with better performance at lower cost by applying cutting edge technologies. The company is a provider of software and hardware necessary for building 4G and 5G networks in the scope of both RAN and Core. IS-Wireless participates in the Open RAN revolution and expects significant changes in the way networks are built and deployed in the coming years. The company has been recognized as one of a few European RAN vendors by leading telco operators including Deutsche Telekom, Orange, Telecom Italia (TIM), Telefónica and Vodafone in their November 2021 report “BUILDING AN OPEN RAN ECOSYSTEM FOR EUROPE”.

Sławomir Pietrzyk

President and CEO

Born in 1973. Doctor of Philosophy in wireless communications from Technische Universiteit Delft. Master of Science, Engineer in telecommunications from Kielce University of Technology. Postgraduate Diploma in management from Warsaw School of Economics.

Nationality: Polish.
Languages: English, Russian and Polish (native).
Background: Dr. Slawomir Pietrzyk is an expert in wireless technologies and a passionate entrepreneur. He is the author of the first book on OFDMA, entitled “OFDMA for Broadband Wireless Access”, published in 2006 by Artech House. Dr. Pietrzyk worked for Polska Telefonia Cyfrowa (now T-Mobile) and Ubiquitous Communication Program at the Delft University of Technology.

Robert Cieloch

COO (Chief Operating Officer)

Born in 1975. Master of Science in wireless communications from Military University of Technology in Warsaw.

Nationality: Polish.
Languages: English, Polish (native).
Background: 18 years in T-Mobile Poland as the expert responsible for RAN part of: strategy planning, dimensioning, budgeting, technical recommendations, LTE rollout, networks consolidation, national roaming, cooperation with business.

Kamil Pluskwa-Dąbrowski

CLO (Chief Legal Officer)

Born in 1978. Master of law graduated at Warsaw University. Attorney in law associated in Warsaw Regional Bar Chamber.

Nationality: Polish.
Languages: English, Russian, Polish (native).
Background: 20 years of specialisation in high-tech law, including telecom, IP and licensing law. Experienced in legal aspects of project compliance, public funding and procurement. Additionally, specialised in consumer law and protection, working for consumer NGO Federacja Konsumentow.

Artur Chmielewski

Head of Sales

Master of Science in telecommunications and computer science at Silesian Technical University.

In charge of business development and sales both for the Polish and international market. He is also managing the contacts to institutions and partners. Passionate about modern telecommunication and open ecosystems triggering innovation. During his more than 20 years career, he held various positions at companies like Avaya, Nokia, Siemens.

Rafał Sanecki

Head of Marketing

Master of Science in journalism and social communication at Jagiellonian University.

In charge of marketing activities and IS-Wireless Academy. 15 years of experience in companies like Orange, Grupa Onet, Aspire – association of business process services companies, Tagvenue and Silvair.

Timo Jokiaho

Board Advisor

Previously holding pivotal roles at Red Hat, Samsung, Huawei Technologies, and Nokia, Mr. Jokiaho has been at the forefront of telecommunications innovation. His leadership roles in industry consortiums like the SCOPE Alliance and contributions to the Linux Foundation highlight his commitment to driving technological advancements.
An expert in open telco cloud initiatives through collaboration with key industry players, Mr. Jokiaho’s expertise spans Open Source, containers, and virtual machines, significantly contributing to the evolution of telecom networks including Open RAN/vRAN/Cloud RAN and 4G/5G Core Networks. Master’s degree in computer science from Helsinki University.

MSc in Telecommunications and Information Technology, Warsaw Technical University. MSc in Economics, Electronic Markets, Warsaw University. Senior Executive Manager CEO/CTO/CIO/COO with 27 years of experience in technology companies in Germany (E-Plus), Netherlands (KPN), Belgium (Base), Switzerland (Nexus Telecom) and Poland (Era/T-Mobile, Systemics Group). Managing operationally complex ICT departments and large budgets. Author and Executor of strategic plans, for both business development and complete renewal of the ICT landscape. Last 10 years Entrepreneur & Consultant. Owner and co-founder of companies in Poland and Germany. Multiple projects realised in Europe, Asia, South & North America for different Partners, Suppliers, Financial Investors, IT & telco companies. Expert in business development, business due diligence (incl. operational post-merger execution) and lean operation. Areas of expertise: mobile/FTTH networks, SW development, IT & digitalisation; organisational skills, leadership, global networking, partner management. Advising IS-Wireless for customer solutions and building relations to new customers, partners and investors.

Wojtek Burkot

Partner Bitspiration Booster VC, Co-founder and CPO at BEIT INC, PhD in Physics from the Jagiellonian University

Developing quantum algorithm designed to solve NP-complete problems. Angel Investor, Advisor and Board Member for several startups including Egzotech, Azimo, Airly and others. Previously, Chief Technology Officer at Grupa Allegro Marketplace division. Run development of technology, focusing on Mobile and Big Data. Moved to Allegro from Google R&D Center in Krakow, which he set and run as the Site Lead and Engineering Director since 2006. Prior to Google, Wojtek worked in a number of roles at Motorola developing and deploying 3G public and private nationwide networks globally. Earlier in his career, he was Assistant Professor of Computer Science at AGH in Kraków and a researcher at Institute of Nuclear Physics, DESY and CERN.

Inspirations

IS-Wireless draws scientific and spiritual inspiration from rich Polish and international heritage. Our inspirations include:

  • Polish School of Mathematics  {creative, unconventional, and committed} was a scientific community active at the beginning of the 20th century with most notable representatives working in Kraków, Lwów and Warsaw, including  Marian Rejewski, Stanislaw Ulam and Stefan Banach.
  • Maria Skłodowska-Curie  {talented, innovative, and pioneer} was a Polish scientist who conducted pioneering research on radioactivity. She was the first woman to win a Nobel-prize, the first person and the only woman to win it twice. Moreover, she was the first woman professor at the University of Paris.
