Meet our R&D Team

Dr. Adam Flizikowski

Head of R&D

Adam holds the position of Head of R&D division, has 20 years of commercial experience in cellular systems (incl. 3G, 4G, 5G and beyond) and especially topics of RRM techniques (particularly admission and congestion control algorithms, NOMA). He is leading the research team of ISRD, he also manages the ECSEL JU project BRAINE (AI/ML supported micro edge DC) where he deals with workload prediction/placement.  He holds MSc from telecommunications and currently finalises his PhD on admission control in future wireless systems. He is author (and co-author) of more than 70 papers from different topics around wireless communications, cyber security and adaptive multimedia systems. Since 2010 he has been supervising the team of R&D consultants, being active in performing the research activities, and throughout his career co-supervised 50 MSc students. He manages the IPR process at the company. He holds the Prince2 (Fundation, Practicioner) and ITILv3 (Foundation) certificates.

Dr. Md Arifur Rahman

Lead Researcher

Arifur is Lead Researcher focusing on lead the research process develop research roadmap for the company. Currently, he is the Technical Project Manager of 2 research projects called MARSAL and 6G-BRICKS. He holds a PhD degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Ulsan, South Korea in 2019. Before he joins in IS-Wireless, he works as a postdoctoral researcher at CentraleSupelec, Campus of Rennes, France and contribute in a ANR funded Enhanced Physical Layer for Cellular IoT (EPHYL) project and develop radio resource management algorithm for multi-cell NB-IoT network scenario. He was a co-supervisor of Master students in the area of cooperative relaying in NOMA techniques with 2 years of experience during his PhD degree. His current research interests include cell-free mMIMO, cloud computing in 5G networks, multi-access edge computing, virtual radio access networks, AI application in wireless communications, digital twins, and emerging technologies in wireless communications

Adam Girycki

R&D Expert

Adam is R&D Expert and has particular expertise in the 3GPP standard, O-RAN alliance, 2G/3G/4G/5G Radio Network Design, Signalling and Radio Network Optimisation. Responsible for the development of the Near-Real Time RAN Intelligent Controller (Near-RT RIC) platform based on O-RAN standard, research and development of the radio resource management algorithms for xApps and MAC layer. Currently, he has also enrolled in a joint PhD degree programme in Engineering Science with Katholieke Universiteit Leuven (KUL), Belgium and developing machine learning-based radio resource allocation algorithm for 6G cell-free mMIMO networks. He graduated in Technical Physics (1994). Completed PhD studies in Electronic and Telecommunications (1998). Have conducted telecommunications training in 34 countries on 4 continents.

Dr. Md Munjure Mowla

Expert R&D Engineer

Munjure works as an Expert R&D Engineer.  Currently, he leads a project for StandICT.eu. He holds a Ph.D degree in Wireless Communication and is experienced on several International (EU/NSF) projects/proposals/grants. Dr Mowla has diverse experience of more than 15 years as an academician, researcher, and industry personal in wireless communication domain. He supervised several masters students and also now acts as co-supervisor of a PhD student. He is author (and co-author) of more than 50 disseminations in wireless communication areas. His current research interests include Beyond 5G and 6G Wireless Communications, Radio Resource Management, Software Defined radio RAN, Edge Computing, AI/ML algorithms, cell free massive MIMO, etc.

Dr. Maria Safianowska

Senior R&D Engineer

Maria is Senior R&D Engineer. She has experience in working as a Researcher with a focus on Edge and Fog computing as well as allocation and pricing of IoT services. Maria is responsible for the vast area of Edge computing. She manages European and NCBiR projects. Maria received her Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering and Computer Science from National Chiao Tung University, Hsinchu, Taiwan.

Dr. Robert Gdowski

Innovation Manager

Robert works as an Innovation Manager dealing with Network Function Virtualization and Orchestration topics. Previously he worked as a researcher at Industrial Technology Research Institute (ITRI) in Taiwan, focusing on architectural convergence of MEC, NFV and MANO systems. Robert obtained his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from National Chiao Tung University. His research interests include System Virtualization, NFV, MANO, O-RAN RIC, MEC and distributed networks.

Jakub Kocot

Senior R&D Engineer

Jakub works as an R&D Engineer. He holds a master’s degree in telecommunication with a specialization in radiocommunication and multimedia technologies and an engineering degree in automation and robotics. His interests include digital signal processing, optimization techniques, and novel radio resource management.

Farinaz Kooshki IS-Wireless Architecture expert

Dr. Farinaz Kooshki

Innovation Manager

Farinaz serves as the Innovation Manager. Her responsibility revolves around driving technological innovations for Open RANs. She also oversees the development of radio resource management features, energy efficiency, cell-less networks, RIC and xAPPs. She is experienced in delivering complex projects (LTE Rollout, Planning, NPO, Smartcare-CEM) for multiple MNOs. Farinaz holds Executive MBA and industrial Ph.D., with research focusing on cell-less Open RANs.

Sandra Arnaout

Junior R&D engineer

Sandra is a Doctoral candidate and a junior R&D engineer at IS-Wireless in Poland. She received a master’s degree in Telecommunication Engineering from the University of L’Aquila, Italy. During her bachelor’s and master’s studies, Ms. Arnaout worked on projects related to Radio Resource Scheduling Algorithms and PON and FTTR networks. Her current research interests include Resource Scheduling for Optical and Radio Converged Networks Beyond 5G.

Piotr Kulesza

Junior R&D engineer

Piotr is employed as a Junior R&D Engineer in IS-Wireless and is currently a master’s student at Bydgoszcz University of Science and Technology. He is in the last year of his studies in Applied Computer Science and is currently finishing his master’s thesis in the field of video transmission over cellular networks using multi-path technologies. His tasks in R&D are varied, including: helping other members of the R&D team, implementing technical elements of projects that do not require changes in 5G RAN, testing and researching testbeds in R&D projects, as well as detecting and reporting problems with them.
