LTE PHY Lab™ v.2

Introduction

LTE PHY Lab™ v.2 is the latest version of our flagship product LTE PHY Lab. It adds functionalities of 3GPP Release 9 and 10 to functionalities of 3GPP Release 8 introduced by LTE PHY Lab v.1. As such, it is the first available LTE-Advanced baseband reference library for Matlab.

LTE PHY Lab™ v.2 includes all the functionalities of LTE PHY Lab™ v.1. Hence, only the new features are described below.

Overview

LTE PHY Lab™ v.2 as LTE PHY Lab™ v.1 includes, from day one, both the downlink and the uplink processing chains covering all the PHY steps such as FEC, modulation, MIMO processing, resource mapping, OFDMA and SC-FDMA signal generation. Thanks to that, baseband models of both the eNB and also the UE, can be easily created. High detail of functional blocks' implementation allows for great flexibility in customized and proprietary designs. In addition, it is very useful in applications of the LTE PHY Lab™ in education, where it is often important to evaluate the role of every single component block. New Features in LTE PHY Lab™ v.2

LTE PHY Lab™ v.2, brings the following new features of 3GPP LTE-Advanced Release 10 and linking Release 9:

  • Support for Carrier Aggregation for up to 5 Carrier in Downlink and 5 Carriers in Uplink
  • Extended Downlink SU-MIMO (with up to 8 antennas)
  • Uplink SU-MIMO (with up to 4 antennas)
  • Uplink Spatial Diversity for PUCCH
  • New PUCCH format 3 for Carrier Aggregation
  • Support for Normal and Extended Cyclic Prefix
  • Release 9 positioning reference signals
  • Release 10 extended UE specific reference signals
  • CSI Reference signals
  • Clustered SC-FDMA
  • Possibility for simultaneous transmission of PUCCH and PUSCH in the same component carrier
  • Flexible control of all the necessary parameters, including: number of Component Carriers, MIMO configuration for Downlink and Uplink, RS configuration, PUCCH format selection
